This is a great 50 cent fractional chip with a H&C mold from the iconic Las Vegas Casino, the Riviera. It’s a great addition to any casino chip collection. Grab yours while it’s here! The Riviera, often referred to as “the Riv,” was a landmark hotel and casino situated on the northern stretch of the Las Vegas Strip in Winchester, Nevada. It first opened its doors on April 20, 1955, showcasing a nine-story hotel with 291 rooms. As the first skyscraper in the Las Vegas Valley, it held the title of the tallest building in the area until 1956. Over the years, the Riviera expanded with additional structures, including a 12-story tower in 1966, a 17-story tower in 1975, and a 24-story tower in 1988. By the time it closed in 2015, the resort boasted a sprawling 103,800-square-foot casino and a total of 2,075 rooms. The Riviera’s history was marked by its ties to the Vegas Mob. Upon its grand opening, it coincided with the launch of two other Strip resorts, the Dunes and the Royal Nevada, raising concerns about an overabundance of hotels in Las Vegas. Mob fixer Sidney Korshak played a significant role in managing the Riviera, and law enforcement agencies believed he was representing the Chicago Outfit’s interests. Korshak was suspected of skimming profits from the casino and funneling the money back to Chicago. This criminal involvement, combined with mismanagement by an inexperienced Miami-based group, led to substantial financial difficulties for the Riviera. =========================================================== PLEASE READ REGARDING CONDITION AND BUSINESS BLAH BLAH BLAH: Casino chips and Vegas Vintage collectibles are my passion. While I enjoy selling these collectibles, I also love to pass on the enjoyment and passion for this amazing hobby to young and old alike. I guarantee you that you will receive a chip of the same or even better quality. I am a member of the Casino Collectibles Association (#R-9282) and am held to a high standard as a member. None of my chips have been professionally graded (except by me) but I am careful to take lots of pictures so you know exactly what you are getting. I use The Chip Rack condition rating system, and I price in accordance with the Chip Rack Price Guide, 22nd edition (SSS publishing and available on at: www.thechiprack.com) criteria, and also current market conditions. I try very hard to remain competitive with my prices. All my individual chips come in a protective coin case so there will be no damage. I have attempted to give accurate information regarding condition and to disclose any defects, stains, etc. I take plenty of pictures to give you an accurate idea of condition. Please look at the pictures! I typically take side 1, side 2, edge and in protective case pictures. My own personal condition rating is what you see, and it’s based upon the Casino Collectibles Association rating system (New, Slightly Used, Average, Well-Used and Poor). Keep in mind that the condition is in the eyes of the collector, so look closely at the photographs. If you are unhappy with a chip, I will refund your purchase price upon return. MY SHIPPING POLICY IS VERY SIMPLE: I ship by USPS Ground Advantage. If I receive payment by 2:00 PM Las Vegas time the shipment will go out that day. If payment received after that time it will be shipped the next business day, Saturday & Sunday or NOT BUSINESS DAYS. NOTE: I DO combine shipping on casino chip orders. Full postage for first chip, $1 for each additional chip purchased at the same time. If EBay doesn’t deduct postage, I will give you a refund on the extra postage. Please note, I am OCD careful with packing and shipping. All items come in bubble envelopes with bubble wrap or cardboard protectors. It costs a bit more to send, but I find it is worth it to take care. I use EBay calculated shipping, so your postage is collected by EBay and is based on your location.
