*note, if interested in only one waverex card or the drum machine alone with no cards, feel free to make an offer with a note to that effect. but you’ll get a deal with everything bundled– cards sell new for around 200 usd shipped* Korg ddd-1 in fantastic shape- I used this extensively over several months and all functions and outputs are working as they should. It seems to be under the radar a bit but this is the closest you can get to an sp-1200 type drum machine without shelling out for an E-mu. With the included sample board (korg DSB-1) you get two sample slots, with a combined time of about 3 seconds. In addition to these audio input sample slots, the two waverex sample expansion cards that fit into the rom slots in the front (the machine can accept up to 4 of these simultaneously) your options are expanded another ~3 seconds per card, split up into anywhere from 1 to 8 sounds. between these 3 options you get around 9 seconds total sample time, plus the drum sounds that come with the machine which i’m partial to, linn/ DMX adjacent punchy acoustic drum sounds. There’s a stereo main output, 6 assignable outputs and a dedicated sample output for the sounds you sample through the analog input. you can sequence pitch, decay, and velocity for each sound using the data slider or midi. it’s crazy easy to use and sounds super good- the sounds louded via the waverex cards have all the high end aliasing and imaging you’d expect from a sp-1200- the sounds from the sampling board don’t quite have the same thing going on in the high end because of an anti aliasing filter on the board (same filter chip as the dss-1, dw8000 etc), but there’s a trim pot located on the sampling board that allows you to open or close the filter to your hearts content and it sounds quite good. The machine takes a 4.8v rechargeable nicad battery to store the sampled sounds when the unit is powered off- there’s a battery compartment on the bottom of the unit but i couldn’t find any modern battery packs that fit in the compartment so i’ve used some adhesive backed velcro to attach it to the side of the machine so it doesn’t flap around. keeping the unit on is what charges the battery, so as long as you use it or even just keep it turned on regularly, your samples will store and load fine. if you wait too long (usually a couple weeks) the samples will get glitched out as the machine confuses ram data as audio data (this is my lay person’s understanding of it)– this can create some really fun accidents and effects. The two waverex cards will come with all the accessories they shipped with, including a case and usb cable for each. There’s plenty of information about how to use them on waverex’s website- you just need to download their application that lets you drop in wav files to convert them to the format read by the cards, then you flash your created banks (up to 99) to the cards. you can flip through banks while the machine is turned on, and this will effectively hot swap the ram contents- the sounds from the new bank will get chopped up according to the lengths of the previous bank. This can lead to fun rhythmic happy accidents (personally i loved this artefact) but if you want the samples as they were loaded into the card, you just perform a Ram card check in the furthest right menu on the matrix, or restart the machine. The drum machine has a brand new display that looks great and is easy to read, and a new internal backup battery which keeps the pattern and drum kit data saved. Also includes original manual. i have a second set of ddd-1 buttons and am happy to include them if interested- i enjoyed using the extra buttons to help color code my kits Happy to answer any questions. Selling because i did take the plunge on a sp1200 and this machine, as great as it is, is now redundant for me
